The Czech Republic is an economic hub in the heart of Central and Eastern Europe. From drugstores in Prague’s Old Town Square to modern shopping malls in Brno, Czech consumers have increasingly high standards for cosmetic quality. However, cosmetics come in various forms —
alcoholic perfumes, liquid essences, cream-based facial creams, powder eyeshadows — each with different transportation requirements. As Class 3 Flammable Liquids or sensitive goods, cosmetic exports by sea face many obstacles: difficult booking, strict inspections, high packaging standards and complicated customs clearance procedures.
With over ten years of deep experience in dangerous goods transportation, Andaxun International Logistics, leveraging the port advantages of Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen, has built an efficient sea freight channel for cosmetics from China directly to the Czech Republic.
We offer flexible options of Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL), with one-stop full-chain services including booking, customs declaration, ocean shipping, tax-inclusive dual clearance and door-to-door delivery, ensuring your cosmetics arrive safely and compliantly at Prague, Brno and Ostrava!
I. Rate & Transit Time from Shenzhen to the Czech Republic: Quoted Per Shipment, Stable & Reliable
We understand that each client’s cargo conditions vary — volume, dimensions, product form (liquid/cream/powder), alcohol content and other factors all affect the final transport cost. Therefore, Andaxun adheres to a personalized quotation model “per shipment” to tailor the most cost-effective transport solution for you.
1. Price Advantages
Tailored solutions: According to your actual volume (FCL/LCL), cosmetic type, alcohol content and other details, we match the most suitable shipping lines and routes.
Contract carrier resources: Long-term strategic cooperation with major carriers including COSCO, MSC, EMC, with priority access to dangerous goods space.
Transparent with no hidden fees: Quotation includes ocean freight, port charges, documentation fees, dangerous goods surcharges, destination customs clearance and Czech 21% VAT.
Dangerous goods surcharge explanation: Alcoholic perfumes are Class 3 Flammable Liquids (UN 1266), with a DG surcharge usually accounting for 20%–50% of the freight; non-dangerous cosmetics incur lower surcharges.
2. Transit Time Guarantee
The Czech Republic is a landlocked country. Goods depart from Pearl River Delta ports (Yantian Shenzhen / Nansha Guangzhou / Dongguan Port), transit via major European hub ports (Hamburg, Rotterdam), then are delivered to the Czech Republic by truck or rail.
FCL Sea Freight: 35–45 days, transiting via Hamburg with 2–3 days of trucking to Prague.
LCL Sea Freight: 38–48 days, including origin consolidation and destination devanning time.
Full Door-to-Door: 40–50 days, including dual customs clearance and local Czech delivery.
Note: Sea transit time may be affected by force majeure such as weather, carrier scheduling and port congestion. Actual time depends on real-time operation. Normal Czech customs clearance takes 2–5 days; sensitive goods may be extended to 15–30 days.
II. Customs Clearance Documents & Process: Professional Guidance, Worry-Free Throughout
Exporting cosmetics to the Czech Republic requires complete and fully compliant documentation. As an EU member state, the Czech Republic strictly follows EU customs regulations with high standards for document compliance, product certification and language requirements. Andaxun’s professional operation team controls the whole process for you.
1. Required Documents for Booking (per IMDG Code)
For alcoholic perfumes (UN 1266), Czech-English bilingual MSDS, Dangerous Goods Packaging Certificate and Dangerous Goods Declaration Form are required. Goods with flash point ≤ 60°C must be declared as Class 3 Dangerous Goods.
For liquid or cream cosmetics, MSDS, Czech ingredient list and Non-Dangerous Goods Appraisal Report are needed; limited quantity shipment exempts DG packaging certificate for single bottle ≤ 500ml. For powder cosmetics, MSDS, ingredient analysis sheet and anti-static certificate are required; vacuum packaging is recommended for fine powder above 100 mesh.
Key Documents Explained
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) must be provided in Czech or English, with UN number and packing group clearly stated in Section 14 “Transport Information”. Dangerous Goods Packaging Certificate certifies that packaging complies with international maritime dangerous goods regulations.
CPNP Registration Number is mandatory; cosmetics must be registered in the CPNP system before sale in the EU, and unregistered products will be 100% detained. Non-EU companies must appoint a legal Responsible Person (RP) within the EU, who shall be responsible for product safety and label compliance. CPSR (Cosmetic Product Safety Report) certifies that products meet EU safety standards.
2. Export Customs Declaration Documents
Commercial Invoice shall clearly mark FOB value and freight breakdown, with buyer/seller information, product name, quantity, unit price and total value in Czech or English. Packing List shall state gross weight, net weight, volume and quantity per package. HS Codes: Perfumes 3303.00, Lipsticks 3304.10, Other Beauty Preparations 3304.99.
3. Mandatory EU Declarations
EORI Number: Importer must hold a valid EU EORI number, which serves as the identity document for goods entering EU customs. ICS2 Declaration (EU Import Control System 2) shall be completed before cargo cutoff. ENS Declaration (Entry Summary Declaration) must be finished 24 hours before departure.
4. Destination Dual Customs Clearance Process
We cooperate with experienced licensed customs brokers in the Czech Republic for full handling. Qualification Verification takes 1 day to confirm importer holds valid EORI number and Czech VAT number.
Document Pre-review takes 1 day to verify invoice, MSDS, CPNP registration number and other papers. Customs Declaration via Czech electronic customs system takes 2–5 days. Taxes including duties and 21% VAT will be paid on your behalf in real time. Local Czech courier or truck door-to-door delivery takes 1–2 days.
Czech VAT & Tariff Policy
VAT standard rate is 21%, calculated on CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) value. Customs duty ranges 5%–12% for cosmetics under corresponding HS code; duty exemption applies for single item value ≤ €150. Our dual clearance and tax-inclusive service covers full customs clearance, duty payment and delivery, so clients avoid complicated procedures on their own.
III. Packaging Requirements: Classified Protection, Strict Standard Compliance
Improper packaging may cause leakage, contamination or safety hazards. Under IMDG Code regulations, cosmetics require tailored packaging based on product form.
1. Liquid Cosmetics (Perfumes, Essences, Toners) – Four-Layer Packaging
Inner sealing: Each bottle tightly capped and fully wrapped with anti-static bubble film. Single bottle volume recommended ≤ 500ml, alcohol content generally below 70%. Leak-proof bagging:
Wrapped bottles placed in double-layer zip-top leak-proof plastic bags. Absorption & cushioning: Sufficient absorbent materials (vermiculite, absorbent pads) inside cartons, gaps filled with air pillows. UN carton & labeling: UN-standard outer cartons required, affixed with Class 3 Flammable Liquid labels (red flame symbol) and UN 1266 number.
2. Cream Cosmetics (Facial Creams, Eye Creams, Foundations)
Inner packaging with aluminum foil bags or sealed jars to prevent oxidation. Wrapped with bubble film and shock-absorbent materials. Gel packs and thermal liners are added for temperature-sensitive items.
3. Powder Cosmetics (Loose Powders, Eyeshadows, Blushes)
Anti-static aluminum foil inner bags with heat-sealing strength ≥ 40N/15mm. Vacuum filling + nitrogen replacement recommended for fine powder (above 100 mesh). Outer corrugated cartons shall pass ISTA-3A testing (6 drops from 3 meters without leakage).
Packaging Labeling Requirements (EU Cosmetics Regulation EC No 1223/2009)
Ingredient list: Full ingredients must be labeled in Czech, introduced by “Ingredients:” using INCI names. Shelf life: Mark production date and shelf life, or batch number and expiration date. Safety warnings:
Such as “Do not crash, keep away from fire, avoid direct sunlight, keep out of reach of children”. Responsible Person information: Name and address of the EU Responsible Person must be displayed.
Packaging Taboos
Wooden pallets must bear IPPC fumigation marks, otherwise they may be destroyed. Outer cartons are forbidden to use red warning signs, snowflake icons or other elements that may trigger inspections. All dates must use DD/MM/YYYY format.
IV. Important Notes: Avoid Risks, Ensure Safe Shipment
Cosmetic Compliance Certifications (Important!)CPNP Registration must be completed before shipment, taking about 15 days; unregistered goods will be 100% detained.
Non-EU companies must appoint an EU Responsible Person, otherwise customs clearance will be impossible. Ingredient labeling in Czech must be detailed and accurate to 0.1%. EU requires INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) on labels. Allergens such as benzyl benzoate and farnesol must be labeled if exceeding specified concentrations.
Alcohol Content & Ingredient LimitsEU REACH requires alcohol content < 70%; special declaration applies for exceeding this limit. Retinol content must not exceed 0.3% for facial products and 0.05% for body products. Some carriers ban cosmetics with alcohol content over 70%.
Dangerous Goods Declaration & BookingNo concealment: Alcoholic cosmetics must be truthfully declared as dangerous goods; misdeclaration leads to detention and heavy fines. Advance booking: DG space is limited; book 7–10 days in advance. Maritime declaration: Complete dangerous goods declaration to maritime authorities 24 hours before port entry.
Czech Customs Special TipsClearance period for sensitive goods: As sensitive cargo, cosmetics may take 15–30 working days to clear due to additional inspections and approvals. Invoice value should be declared truthfully; Czech Customs strictly penalizes under-declaration.
Declaration must be completed within the specified time after cargo arrival, otherwise demurrage charges of about €50–100 per day will apply. Product labels must include Czech information. Chinese label filing is required for imported cosmetics.
Peak Seasons & TimingCzech logistics peak season is October–December (Black Friday & Christmas); cargo preparation 30 days in advance is recommended. Extreme high temperatures in summer may affect cosmetic quality; operations should avoid periods of extreme heat. Customs clearance and pickup should be completed within 3–5 days after arrival to avoid demurrage fees.
Common Mistakes to AvoidDo not treat cosmetics as general cargo without dangerous goods declaration. Do not omit MSDS or CPNP number, which causes destination clearance failure. Do not forget to appoint an EU Responsible Person, which leads to clearance obstruction.
Ensure sufficient cushioning for glass bottles to prevent breakage and leakage. Use correct HS code to avoid detention or fines. Use IPPC-marked wooden packaging to avoid destruction. Comply with Czech labeling requirements.
